Wait….what? Did I really just offer you a “How To Fail On Diet Plans Guide”? Yes, I sure did. This is how you know the diet plans you have followed aren’t working and why it’s a fail guide. Basically it’s simple – don’t fall into bear traps laid out by diet plans marketing for quick weight loss.  I’m going to show you exactly what to look for in this fail guide so you won’t fail on your health & fitness journey.

I don’t want you to feel like it’s your fault if you fail on diet plans because you know what? You aren’t a failure and it’s not your fault!! Most diet plans aren’t set up for you to succeed because let’s be honest: food is yummy and when you take it away, it’s not fun. Right? Mamas, you know you are nodding your head right now as you think of how it looks when we throw an adult size temper tantrum because we are miserable on our diet plans. Yes, I’m right there with ya. Adulting is hard, eating shouldn’t be.

The Diet Plans Fail Guide

These fails and fixes will show you how diet plans fail YOU, not you failing the diet plans! The upside? I’m not just going to show you the fails but also how to fix so you don’t fail at your diet plans but insteaddiet plans succeed!!! While I personally would prefer you not needing to follow any of the diet plans that are mass marketed with big claims of fast weight loss, I’m not an idiot and I know you will purchase one (or 20) at some point in your life. You know how I know? Cause I’ve done it!! When I first began my journey to lose 100lbs, I tried everything. Literally. I even tried this one crazy diet plan that had me eat whatever I wanted Mon/Wed/Fri and on Tues/Thurs/Sat/Sun I had to eat weird wafers I ordered from the company that came in a bottle. What kind of wafer comes in a bottle?!? The only wafer I’m eating from this point forward better be in a Nilla box cause that’s the wafer I like 😉 Because of my past failures on multiple diet plans, I know what you are going through.


So let’s fix this now:


Are you hungry all the time? 

I’m talking about real hunger, not boredom hunger. There is a difference. Is your tummy growling like a rabid wolf at you? That’s hunger! When you’re trying new diet plans, it’s normal to feel the occasional tinge of hunger especially in the beginning. If after drinking a glass of water, you still have the rumbly belly, it’s time to eat! Don’t self starve. Lord, that isn’t fun at all.


Eat real food. 

Eat mamas!! Don’t eat wait until are ravenous or you will likely grab something that isn’t healthy for you. Make sure you are eating adequate protein, fiber, and healthy fats.  At the very least, carry a snack with you in your purse. This will tide you over until you can get a real meal.


Are you limited to only a few food groups?

I’m not opposed to “lower carb”, I’m opposed to “no carb”. The kind where you are NEVER allowed to eat more than a few carbs a day. I did a full year of bunless burgers and crustless pizzas a few years ago. While it was ok in the beginning, after a while, darn it I wanted a PB&J on bread, not a spoon! A healthy & nutritious diet is one that incorporates appropriate amounts of food from each food group including healthy/complex carbs! While not eating any carbs will indeed help you lose weight, carbs are what make it possible to store energy to make it through the day. No carbs, no energy, no willpower to maintain your diet.


Eat from every food group. 

Healthy & complex carbs are not your enemy, neither is fruit! Everything should be eaten in moderation. I have always said, “Fruit didn’t make me fat”. No one ever binges on bananas like banana bread right? How many times can you honestly say you over ate on oatmeal vs eating too much sugary cereal? There is a difference.


Exercise or activity isn’t required?

There are some diet plans that promise plenty of lost pounds without the addition of exercise. If this is one of the diet plans you’re considering or are in the midst of, beware! Exercise comes with countless health benefits that will make your weight loss all the more beneficial. From preventing chronic pain to improving your energy level and sleeping better, exercise is a vital component to any diet. Plus if you are exercising with me? It’s fun, cause I’m fun 😉


Find programs that promote both healthy eating AND activity

That’s an easy one because guess what? I do that 😉 All of my at home programs promote healthy eating with an exercise plan. Healthy eating and exercise are like peas and carrots, they just go together. At least that’s what Forrest Gump says.
